After six years of struggling to have a baby, I finally gave birth to our daughter. But when my husband saw her, he shouted, “This isn’t the baby I wanted!” Then he demanded a divorce.

I was devastated.

Ben and his mother, Diane, left the hospital without explaining anything.

When I returned home, I discovered my belongings stuffed into trash bags outside. Ben had even changed the locks.

My parents took me and baby Evelyn in.

The following morning, Ben appeared at their doorstep, begging to explain.

Then came the truth.

He had an 18-year-old daughter named Claire from a previous relationship.

He’d abandoned her as a baby.

Four years earlier, Claire had contacted him, hoping to meet her father. Instead, Ben rejected her and kept everything secret from me.

Seeing Evelyn had reminded him of the daughter he’d abandoned.

Rather than face his guilt, he pushed us away.

Diane admitted she’d helped hide the truth, claiming she was protecting Ben’s future.

I couldn’t forgive their deception.

Eventually, Ben contacted Claire and apologized. She asked for time.

He also began visiting Evelyn regularly.

A month later, he begged to come home.

“I love you,” he whispered.

“I believe you,” I replied. “But love doesn’t erase what happened.”

I hadn’t decided whether our marriage could survive.

My daughter deserved a father who would never abandon her.
