I teach third grade, and last Tuesday we were halfway through a reading lesson when Little Johnny made a noise nobody could mistake.<\/p>\n
A second later, the smell reached the front row.<\/p>\n
The children started giggling.<\/p>\n
Then the whole classroom burst into laughter.<\/p>\n
I tried to continue teaching, but Johnny was laughing louder than anyone.<\/p>\n
“Johnny, that’s enough. Go sit outside until you can behave.”<\/p>\n
He grabbed his book and walked into the hallway, still laughing.<\/p>\n
About five minutes later, our principal, Mr. Davis, walked past and noticed Johnny sitting on the bench.<\/p>\n
“Johnny, why aren’t you in class?”<\/p>\n
“My teacher sent me out.”<\/p>\n
“And why are you laughing? Aren’t you supposed to be in trouble?”<\/p>\n
Johnny nodded.<\/p>\n
“Well, sir, I farted during the lesson.”<\/p>\n
The principal frowned.<\/p>\n
“That’s not something to be proud of.”<\/p>\n
Johnny shook his head.<\/p>\n
“I’m not proud. I just think it’s funny.”<\/p>\n
“What’s funny about it?”<\/p>\n
Johnny looked at him seriously.<\/p>\n
“Well, I made the whole classroom stink, right?”<\/p>\n
“Apparently.”<\/p>\n
“So the teacher sent me outside where the air is nice and fresh.”<\/p>\n
The principal nodded.<\/p>\n
Johnny continued.<\/p>\n
“But she kept the other twenty-three kids inside with the smell.
