I’m 24, attending college part-time, and working overnight shifts at a hospital three nights a week.

I share an apartment with a girl named Ashley.

We’d been roommates for almost two years and never had serious problems.

Then I started noticing strange things.

My desk chair would be moved. My pillows weren’t where I’d left them. Once, I found a restaurant receipt under my bed that wasn’t mine.

I asked Ashley if she’d been using my room.

She said no.

After it happened again, I bought a small security camera and placed it inside my bedroom.

Two nights later, while I was working, my phone sent me a motion notification.

I opened the live feed.

Ashley walked into my bedroom with a man carrying a suitcase.

She turned on the light and started straightening my bed.

Then I heard her say, **”Don’t worry. She works nights. She won’t be back until morning.”**

I called Ashley immediately.

She didn’t answer.

The next morning, I confronted her with the footage.

She finally admitted she’d been **renting out my bedroom for $45 a night** whenever I worked overnight shifts.

She’d been doing it for almost a month.

Apparently, she needed extra money for tuition.

I couldn’t believe she’d allowed strangers to sleep in my bed without asking.

I contacted our landlord and showed him the recordings.

Ashley eventually moved out.

I changed my bedroom lock that weekend.

**I thought I was sharing rent with a friend. I had no idea she was making money from my bedroom while I was working.**
