**My Boss Asked Me to Take His Daughter to Prom—Then She Showed Me a Text That Changed Everything**

At 20, I worked at Sheldon’s supply company, helping my mom pay bills and supporting my sister.

One Friday, Sheldon called me into his office.

“My daughter’s prom date canceled. Will you take her? I’ll make it worth your while.”

I needed the money, so I agreed.

Georgia, 18, barely spoke during the drive. But outside the venue, she showed me a text from her father:

**”Remember our agreement. Don’t make things too easy for him.”**

I stared at her.

“He wants me to complain all night and see whether you lose your temper,” she admitted. “I refused. It’s unfair.”

Once we understood the absurdity, prom became fun. We joked about impossible demands, danced terribly, and laughed at Sheldon’s strange texts.

Then Georgia revealed the truth: her father was opening another warehouse and considering me for manager. His endless questions at work—and tonight’s prom—had been tests.

On Monday, Sheldon offered me six months of training and a chance to interview.

“I appreciate it,” I told him, **”but you could’ve just asked.”**

He admitted he’d handled it badly.

Six months later, I earned the job.

Georgia gave me our prom photo for my office, captioned: **”Survived one prom and one very strange boss.”**
