My 18-year-old son moved in with his best friend, but two days later, he came home crying. The document he showed me revealed a secret my late husband had hidden for 18 years.

Luke and Ben had been inseparable since childhood. They looked so alike that strangers often mistook them for twins.

Then Luke discovered something shocking in Ben’s adoption papers.

Both boys had been born at the same hospital, on the same day, eighteen years earlier.

I immediately visited the hospital.

A midwife remembered me. She confirmed something I’d believed impossible.

**I’d given birth to twins. Both had survived.**

But my husband, Mark, had told me one baby died during delivery.

He’d never let me see or hold that child.

The hospital records revealed an adoption consent form bearing my name and a signature I hadn’t written.

Mark had secretly arranged our son’s adoption because we were young, broke, and struggling financially.

When I returned home, Luke, Ben, and Ben’s adoptive mother, Diane, were waiting.

I told them everything.

Ben whispered, “So you’re my real mother?”

“Yes,” I answered. “But Diane raised you. She’s your mom too.”

He began crying.

“What if I want both of you?”

I hugged him.

“Then you can have both.”
