**I Was Ready to Leave My Boyfriend After Six Years Without a Proposal—Until I Overheard His Secret Conversation With My Dad**

After six years together, I finally packed my bags. Ethan loved me, but every time I mentioned marriage, he had an excuse.

When Dad arrived to help me move, I overheard them arguing.

“I bought the ring years ago,” Ethan whispered, “but I can’t ask her until you tell her the truth.”

I confronted them. Dad finally admitted Ethan had a seven-year-old daughter named Lily.

Ethan swore he’d never cheated. Her mother had been pregnant before we met, and he’d only discovered Lily existed three years earlier. After her mother died, Dad helped raise her.

They’d both hidden everything from me.

Then I remembered the little girl who frequently visited Dad—the one he’d introduced as a friend’s granddaughter. I’d even bought her a Christmas doll.

I drove to Dad’s house and heard Lily call Ethan “Daddy.”

She was living there!

Worse, they’d made her keep their secret.

When Lily appeared crying and asked, “Are you leaving because of me?” my heart broke.

I knelt and hugged her.

“Sweetheart, none of this is your fault.”

She whispered, “But Daddy loves you. And I like you, too.”

I held her tighter.

I told Ethan I needed time. I was ready to love his daughter, but I wasn’t ready to forgive the man who’d lied to me for three years.
