Curiosity won. The next morning, I called. His name was Ruben. He asked if I knew Felix Deren.<\/p>\n

Felix was my ex-husband. We hadn\u2019t spoken in seven years.<\/p>\n

Ruben\u2019s voice shook as he told me the truth: Felix was his father\u2014and Felix had died in February. Before he passed, he left behind a box with letters, paintings, and my name.<\/p>\n
