I never expected to be seen as the villain in my own family. I\u2019ve always tried to support my niece, especially after her father\u2014my brother\u2014died in a tragic accident when she was three. In his will, he left all of his money to me. It was his choice.<\/p>\n
Over the years, I gave her love, guidance, birthday presents, and support whenever I could. I tried to be someone she could rely on, even though I was never her parent.<\/p>\n
Now, she\u2019s nineteen and preparing for college. Out of nowhere, she called me, saying, \u201cSend me dad\u2019s money. I need it for college.\u201d She demanded the inheritance, as if I had stolen it. I explained that the money legally belonged to me, that I needed it for my own son\u2019s education, and that I had already supported her in many ways. She hung up immediately.<\/p>\n
Since then, she\u2019s been telling friends and family that I am selfishly withholding money that should be hers. I\u2019ve been called heartless, greedy, and cruel.<\/p>\n
The money isn\u2019t the worst part\u2014it\u2019s her lack of respect and gratitude. A relationship built on love turned into a transaction overnight.<\/p>\n
