WHEN THE MUSIC STOPPED<\/strong><\/p>\n

After our wedding reception finally ended, my husband and I stumbled into our hotel room completely exhausted. The music, the lights, the congratulations\u2014it had all been magical, but we had nothing left in us. We collapsed onto the bed, still half-dressed, shoes somewhere near the door, and fell asleep almost instantly.<\/p>\n

Sometime in the middle of the night, I woke up to a strange feeling. The bed was shaking slightly. My heart started racing as I pushed myself up and looked around the dim room.<\/p>\n

Then I saw him.<\/p>\n

My brand-new husband wasn\u2019t beside me. He was kneeling on the floor, half-asleep, gripping the bed frame and fumbling underneath it. Apparently when we had thrown ourselves onto the bed earlier, we hadn\u2019t noticed one leg was uneven. Every time we moved, the frame wobbled.<\/p>\n

At three in the morning, in his sleepy determination, he had decided it needed to be fixed immediately.<\/p>\n

When he noticed I was watching him, he froze and whispered quietly, \u201cI didn\u2019t want our first night to be\u2026 squeaky.\u201d<\/p>\n

For a second I just stared\u2014then we both burst out laughing.<\/p>\n
