My wife managed to crash the car again today. When the police arrived, she was already fired up, pacing near the dented bumper. \u201cThat guy was totally reckless!\u201d she said, pointing. \u201cHe was on his phone \u2014 and drinking a beer like nothing happened!\u201d<\/p>\n

I looked over. Sure enough, the \u201cman\u201d sat in the driver\u2019s seat, phone on his lap, holding a can of beer like it was a normal afternoon.<\/p>\n

The officer took a deep breath, clearly holding back a laugh. Then he looked at her and said calmly, \u201cMa\u2019am\u2026 you hit a parked car.\u201d<\/p>\n

Silence.<\/p>\n

My wife froze. I tried \u2014 really tried \u2014 not to laugh.<\/p>\n

Then the officer added, barely keeping a straight face, \u201cAnd that \u2018gentleman\u2019? That\u2019s a cardboard cutout we use for training.\u201d<\/p>\n

She blinked, her face turning bright red.<\/p>\n
