On my first day at a new job, I wore a sweater and pants\u2014nothing revealing. I don\u2019t wear bras. I haven\u2019t for years, even at my previous job, and no one ever said a word. I simply find them uncomfortable and unnecessary.<\/p>\n
But on day one, two coworkers approached me and said my outfit was \u201cinappropriate\u201d and that I should wear a bra. I was shocked\u2014I didn\u2019t even know them yet. I was fully covered; the only thing visible was the natural shape of my body.<\/p>\n
On day two, I dressed even more conservatively: a T-shirt with a jacket on top. Still no bra.<\/p>\n
Again, I got comments. One even came from my supervisor\u2019s secretary, saying there\u2019s an \u201cunspoken dress code\u201d and that the shape of my chest was too noticeable.<\/p>\n
I explained there\u2019s no official dress code and that I was dressed professionally. But it didn\u2019t seem to matter.<\/p>\n
For two years at my previous workplace, I dressed the same way\u2014sweaters, blouses, jackets\u2014and no one ever complained, even though I have a larger chest.<\/p>\n
Now I\u2019m questioning everything.<\/p>\n
