Instead, the moment we arrived, she handed me a baby monitor and cheerfully announced that I’d be watching the grandchildren while she and her friends enjoyed the spa.<\/p>\n

I smiled for the kids, but inside, my heart broke.<\/p>\n

Rather than argue, I enrolled the children in the resort’s supervised activity program, charged to my daughter-in-law’s room, and booked myself the same spa package she was enjoying.<\/p>\n

While relaxing, I overheard her bragging that bringing me had saved them the cost of hiring a babysitter. Worse still, she admitted my own son had suggested it because, in his words, “Mom never says no.”<\/p>\n
