My future mother-in-law had spent months trying to control our wedding, but destroying our invitations was the final straw.
Ryan and I wanted fewer than 100 guests. His mother, Mavis, kept demanding more, including relatives Ryan barely remembered.
When we finally said no, she wasn’t happy.
A week later, I finished all 96 wedding invitations and stacked them in the middle of our dining table.
That afternoon, I came home and found Mavis in our kitchen beside a mop bucket.
All 96 invitations were soaking inside it.
