A Flight Attendant Ordered My Pregnant Wife to Kneel — Then We Learned Why

I was six months pregnant when I flew home after my grandmother’s funeral.
I was exhausted, emotional, and desperate to sleep.
About ten minutes after takeoff, a flight attendant stopped beside my seat.
“Ma’am, please come with me.”
Her voice was serious enough that I immediately followed.
She led me into a small crew area near the back of the plane and closed the door.
Then she looked at me and said, “I need you to get down on your knees.”
I was stunned.

I asked why, but she repeated herself more firmly.
Already overwhelmed from the funeral, I started crying.
That’s when she quickly pointed behind me.
A passenger seated nearby had noticed something strange under my coat.
Without realizing it, the strap of my small crossbody bag had become twisted around part of my seat belt and coat.
The flight attendant had seen that I was struggling to breathe comfortably and worried the strap was pressing dangerously across my stomach.
She wanted me lower so she could safely untangle it without pulling against my belly.
The moment I understood, all my fear disappeared.
She apologized for frightening me and admitted she should have explained sooner.
Then she brought me water, moved me to an empty row, and checked on me several times during the flight.
What started as one of the most frightening moments of my trip ended with a stranger quietly looking out for me.
