A Man Drove His Best Friend’s Daughter to Ballet Three Times a Week – Then Her Teacher Asked the Girl’s Mother a Question That Made Her Blood Run Cold

My 16-year-old daughter was thrilled when my husband’s best friend offered to drive her to ballet lessons. But weeks later, she stopped dancing, barely spoke to me, and refused to audition.
I thought she was exhausted until I visited her studio unexpectedly.
What her teacher revealed left me speechless.
“Audrey hasn’t attended class in two weeks,” she said. “She told me you didn’t think she was talented enough.”
I was stunned. I’d never said anything like that!
When I confronted Audrey, she burst into tears.
“Derek told me you and Dad agreed I wasn’t good enough!”
Derek had been driving her to lessons three times a week. Apparently, he’d convinced her that we were disappointed in her abilities and secretly wanted her to quit.
He even claimed her teacher agreed.
I showed Audrey the tuition payments and messages proving I’d always supported her.
Later, we confronted Derek with screenshots of his lies.
Finally, the truth emerged.
His daughter, Mia, hadn’t been accepted into the advanced ballet program. Derek couldn’t stand watching Audrey succeed while his daughter struggled.
He admitted his jealousy had influenced his actions.
My husband ended their friendship immediately.
Thankfully, Audrey returned to dancing. With extra practice, she earned a place in the spring recital.
When she stepped onto the stage, she searched the audience for me.
I smiled.
And my daughter smiled back.
