My MIL Accused Me of Cheating Because of Our Baby’s Green Eyes — Then the DNA Test Exposed Her Secret

My daughter was only two months old when my mother-in-law started making comments about her appearance.

Our baby had green eyes.

Neither my husband, Daniel, nor I had green eyes, and apparently that was enough to make his mother suspicious.

At first, she made little jokes.

Then she started telling relatives that Daniel should get a DNA test.

I was furious.

Eventually, Daniel and I agreed to testing just to end the accusations.

His mother insisted that she wanted her DNA included too.

So we arranged separate paternity and family relationship tests.

A week later, the results arrived.

Daniel was confirmed as our daughter’s biological father.

I thought that would finally settle everything.

Then Daniel opened the second report.

The mother-son comparison showed that his mother wasn’t biologically related to him.

He stared at the paper.

“Mom, what is this?”

She immediately started crying.

Then she told us something she’d hidden for thirty-four years.

Daniel had been adopted when he was six months old.

His biological mother had been a close friend who died shortly after his birth.

My mother-in-law had raised him as her own but never told him the truth.

Daniel sat there quietly for several minutes.

Finally, he said, “You’re still my mom. But why couldn’t you trust me with this?”

She apologized to him.

Then she turned toward me.

For the first time since my daughter’s birth, she apologized to me too.

The test proved I hadn’t lied about my child. But it also revealed the truth she’d been hiding about hers.
