My Mom Demanded I Leave My Pregnant Wife Home on Her Birthday — Then She Sent My Wife a Message I Couldn’t Ignore
My wife, Sarah, is seven months pregnant with our first child.
Lately, she’s been dealing with terrible nausea, especially during long car rides.
She also has a serious shellfish allergy.
Last week, Mom asked me to organize dinner for her birthday.
I told her she could choose the restaurant.
She picked an expensive seafood place almost an hour away.
I explained that Sarah couldn’t comfortably make the trip or safely eat there.
I suggested several restaurants closer to home.
Mom refused.
“Just leave her home. It’s my birthday, not hers.”
I told her I wasn’t going to exclude my wife.
Mom got angry.
“You’ve completely forgotten who raised you!”
I finally snapped.
**”Mom, I love you, but my wife and our baby come first.”**
She hung up.
That evening, Sarah came into the living room holding her phone.
Mom had texted her privately.
**”I hope you’re happy. You’ve managed to turn my own son against me. Let’s see how long that lasts.”**
Sarah was crying.
She’d actually offered to stay home so I could celebrate with Mom.
That’s when I realized how unfairly she’d been treated.
I called Mom and told her we wouldn’t attend dinner unless she apologized.
She accused me of overreacting.
I didn’t argue.
Two days later, my sister called.
Apparently, Mom had told everyone Sarah had forbidden me from attending.
I explained what really happened.
Now Mom wants us to come over and “forget the whole thing.”
But I told her something first.
**”You can disagree with our decisions. You cannot punish my wife for them.”**
We’re still waiting for that apology.
