My Husband Left Me During Chemo for His Mom’s Luxury Thanksgiving Trip – Then Karma Hit Them Hard

When my husband chose a luxury vacation over staying with me during chemo, I thought the betrayal would break me. Instead, it became the beginning of everything I didn’t know I deserved.

Two years ago, I was 30, exhausted from chemotherapy, nauseous, aching, and barely holding myself together. The week before Thanksgiving, Garrett walked into our bedroom and told me his mother had booked a resort trip for their birthdays — and that she didn’t want me there because my “illness would ruin the holiday.”

He hesitated only long enough to pretend he cared. Then he packed his suitcase and left.

Three days later, I called a divorce attorney.

He didn’t fight it.

Karma, however, showed up on its own. A video went viral of Garrett and his mother standing in a flooded resort lobby, luggage floating, both of them furious. For once, I felt nothing but peace.

Recovery was slow. I took small walks, journaled, and rebuilt myself one quiet day at a time. Eventually, I met Caleb — kind, steady, patient in ways that never needed to be proven. He didn’t ask about my scars. He simply stayed.

Today, I’m in remission. We’re married. We have twins who fill our home with joy.

I learned healing isn’t about revenge — it’s about finding the love that stays when life gets dark.

And I did.
