I Gave Away Clothes I No Longer Needed — And Life Gave Me Something Back I Didn’t Know I’d Been Missing

What I Thought I Gave Away… Came Back to Me in a Way I Never Expected
Last autumn, while grieving my mother’s passing, I sat on the floor of my daughter’s room sorting through clothes she had outgrown. Cleaning felt like the only way to breathe, so I boxed everything up and posted online: Free children’s clothing, size 2–4. Just pay postage.
Dozens replied, but one message stayed with me.
“My name is Nura. I just left a difficult situation with my daughter. I can’t afford postage now… but I’ll send it when I can.”
I almost ignored it. I was exhausted. But I imagined a little girl facing winter without warm clothes and simply replied: Send me your address.
I mailed the box and forgot about it.
A year later, a parcel appeared at my door. Inside were the same clothes—cleaned, neatly folded—and tied with blue ribbon. Beneath them was a small crocheted yellow duck from my childhood, something that must’ve slipped into the box by accident.
Her note read:
They kept my daughter warm through winter. I waited until I could stand on my own two feet again to return them—and this duck I knew meant something to you.
We spoke soon after. Our daughters met. Over time, our families grew close.
Now the duck sits beside my daughter’s bed—a reminder that kindness isn’t lost.
Sometimes, it simply finds its way back home.
