My Future MIL Told My Orphaned Little Brothers They’d Be ‘Sent to a New Family Soon’ – So We Gave Her the Harshest Lesson of Her Life

Three months ago, my parents died in a house fire. I managed to pull my six-year-old twin brothers, Caleb and Liam, out of the flames, but our lives changed forever. As their older sister, I became the only family they had left. My fiancé, Mark, supported me completely and promised we would adopt them once the court allowed it.

But his mother, Joyce, hated the boys.

She constantly called them “baggage” and said Mark should save himself for his “real children.” At family gatherings she ignored them, and once even refused to give them cake at a birthday party. Still, I never imagined how cruel she could truly be.

One weekend I traveled for work while Mark stayed home with the boys. When I returned, Caleb and Liam ran to me in tears. Joyce had visited and given them suitcases packed with clothes and toys. Then she told them they would soon be sent to another family because Mark “deserved his own real children.”

Mark was furious when he heard. Together we decided she would never hurt them again.

At Mark’s birthday dinner, we pretended to announce we were giving the boys away. Joyce immediately celebrated the idea. That was when Mark revealed the truth: the boys were staying—and Joyce was no longer welcome in our lives.

The next day we filed for a restraining order. Soon, we’ll file the adoption papers. Our family is staying together—forever.
