The Stranger Who Saved Me That Night

It was 2 a.m., and I was alone in a taxi. The driver kept staring at me in a way that made my skin crawl, saying, “A girl like you shouldn’t be out this late.” I was terrified.

At a red light, the man in the car next to us noticed my fear. He stepped out and walked over calmly. Then he opened my door and said, “There you are, sis! You left your phone at the bar.”

I had never seen him before—but I understood. I took the phone he offered, played along, and got out.

The driver sped away instantly.

Shaking, I handed the phone back and asked how he knew. He simply said his sister once called him from a situation like that, and he couldn’t help her in time. He promised himself he’d never let that happen again.

He stayed with me until my real ride arrived, asking nothing in return.

That night, a stranger became my protector.

Some say guardian angels have wings. Mine drove an old car—and showed up exactly when I needed him most.
