The Dark Alley Misunderstanding

Two nuns were walking back to their convent late one evening when two masked men suddenly rushed out of a narrow alley and grabbed them.
The first nun immediately closed her eyes and cried, “God, forgive them, for they know not what they are doing!”
The second nun looked carefully at the men, frowned, and whispered, “Actually, Sister… I think they know exactly what they’re doing.”
The first nun gasped.
The second continued, “They’ve mistaken us for someone else.”
Sure enough, one of the masked men pulled out a crumpled photograph from his pocket, stared at it, then stared at the two horrified women.
“Oh no,” he muttered to his friend. “Wrong people.”
The other man sighed. “Again?”
They both apologized repeatedly, insisting they had been hired to deliver a surprise birthday prank involving fake costumes and dramatic entrances.
The nuns remained skeptical until a frantic family came running around the corner carrying balloons, a cake, and a banner reading, “Happy 80th Birthday, Uncle Frank!”
Everyone stood in complete silence.
Finally, the second nun folded her arms and smiled.
“Well,” she said, “next time perhaps start with ‘Excuse me’ instead of leaping from a dark alley.”
Even the police officer who arrived later couldn’t stop laughing at the misunderstanding—and Uncle Frank still got his surprise party.
