King Charles takes “swipe” at Donald Trump in latest speech
King Charles marked what would have been Queen Elizabeth II’s 100th birthday with an emotional tribute, reflecting on her legacy and the values she represented. While honoring his late mother, he remarked that she would likely have been “deeply troubled” by many of today’s global challenges but would still believe that “goodness will always prevail.”
The speech came just weeks before King Charles and Queen Camilla’s planned state visit to the United States, where they are expected to meet President Donald Trump and attend official events at the White House.
Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield suggested the King’s remarks could be interpreted as an indirect criticism of current international tensions, including issues involving Donald Trump and Iran. However, she acknowledged this was her personal interpretation rather than a confirmed message from the monarch.
Despite the speculation, Buckingham Palace has not indicated that Charles’ comments were directed at any individual, and the upcoming state visit is expected to proceed as planned.
