On their 21st birthday, Gia and Leila received a wooden box their late sister had prepared for them ten years earlier — and what was inside changed everything.
There had once been three sisters: Gia, Leila, and Nora. But Nora became seriously ill at 11 and passed away, leaving the other two devastated.
After her death, Gia became quiet while Leila grew angry and distant. Birthdays were especially painful because there was always one empty chair.
On their 21st birthday, their mother placed a worn wooden box on the table.
On top was an envelope in Nora’s handwriting:

Inside were three bundles.
Gia’s contained a bracelet, photo, and letter reminding her not to hide her feelings.
Leila’s held childhood keepsakes and a message telling her that anger didn’t make her weak.
For the first time in years, the sisters embraced and admitted how much they had missed each other.
Then they opened the final bundle.
Nora had written one last request:

But underneath a tiny paper crown was something neither expected — an old cassette tape.
Their mother found a player and pressed play.
Static filled the room.
