My Husband Said He Felt ‘Too Sick’ to Put Sunscreen on My Back – Then I Saw Him Rubbing It on His Female Boss, and Our Son Made Him Regret It

After Mason’s 21st birthday, he asked Darla a question she never expected.

“Would you still have raised us if you’d known the truth?”

Years earlier, Mason and his two brothers had moved in with Darla and their father, Kayden, after their mother died.

Darla had planned to have a baby of her own with Kayden.

But those plans disappeared.

Kayden told her the grieving boys “needed all of her.”

What Darla didn’t know was that Kayden had told the boys something completely different—that she was perfectly happy with their family as it was.

For years, Mason believed he and his brothers were the reason Darla never had a biological child.

He even kept track of everything she did for him, secretly trying to repay a debt she never believed existed.

Then came the hardest question.

“If Dad had told you the truth, would you still have chosen us?”

Darla held his face.

“I would have chosen you,” she said. “But I don’t know if I would have chosen only you.”

She loved raising them.

She had also grieved the child she never got to have.

When Kayden overheard the conversation, he finally admitted he had been afraid another baby would disrupt their fragile family.

“You didn’t take motherhood from me,” Darla told him. “You took away my chance to decide.”

Then she told the boys something they desperately needed to hear:

“You never owed me anything for being raised and loved.”
