My Husband Locked Me Out for Another Woman — Then a White Van Pulled Up

I had only gone out to buy groceries.
When I came back, my key wouldn’t turn in the lock.
At first, I thought it was jammed.
Then I noticed a note taped to the door.
“Go stay with your mother. I need space.”
My stomach dropped.
Before I could process it, I heard laughter from inside the house.
A woman’s laughter.
I recognized the voice immediately. I had heard her before on my husband’s phone.
Thankfully, my children were staying with my mother that afternoon, but my purse, cash, passport, and important documents were all still inside.
I stood there with grocery bags in my hands, trying to decide whether to call the police.
Then a large white van pulled up.
Two men got out and walked toward the house.
One of them looked at me and asked, “Are you Daniel’s wife?”
I nodded.
He sighed.
They were movers.
My husband had hired them to collect furniture and boxes he claimed belonged to him.
That was when I realized this wasn’t a sudden argument.
He had planned it.
I called the police before anyone touched anything.
When officers arrived, my husband finally opened the door.
So did the woman.
By that evening, I had my documents back, the movers had left, and my husband had a very different problem.
He thought he was removing me from the house.
Instead, he had just given me proof that he had been planning to leave for weeks.
