Man Raised Three Children Alone After Losing His Wife – Then a Stranger Started Picking Them up from School

When I arrived to pick up my three grandchildren from school, the receptionist said a woman named Victoria had taken them. She was on the approved list, but my son Marcus swore he’d never authorized her.

I panicked until the children returned safely. Victoria drove away, leaving a photograph of my late daughter-in-law, Emily, and a letter addressed to me.

The photograph said, “Please don’t tell Marcus.”

Emily’s letter revealed she’d discovered Marcus was having an affair and planned to leave him. It was dated six days before the car accident that killed her.

Marcus admitted the affair. For three years, he’d told everyone Emily had been happy, hiding the truth from me.

When Victoria contacted me, she confessed she’d forged Marcus’s signature on the school authorization form. She’d been Emily’s friend and wanted her story heard. I told her frightening the children was unforgivable.

Victoria gave me Emily’s unfinished letters to her children, full of love and plans for their future.

After counseling, Marcus told the children that their parents had problems, but their mother never stopped loving them. The school tightened its pickup procedures, and Victoria was held accountable.

One evening, my granddaughter Lily read a letter Emily had written about her first school day. She smiled.

Her mother had wanted to leave a marriage, not her children.
