My Stepmom Removed Every Picture of Our Late Mother — Then I Found My Little Sister Packing Her Bags

My mom died four years ago, when my little sister, Ava, was seven.

Dad struggled for a long time before meeting Denise. They married last winter, and at first, I genuinely hoped things would work out.

Then Denise announced she was pregnant with twins.

That’s when everything started changing.

She took down Mom’s pictures from the hallway, saying the house needed a fresh start.

She also complained that Ava was too clingy and needed to become more independent before the babies arrived.

I told Dad, but he kept saying Denise was stressed.

Last Saturday, I stopped by unexpectedly.

I found Ava in her bedroom packing a suitcase.

She was crying.

When I asked what happened, she handed me a folded note.

It said:

“I can stay with my sister when the babies come. Then everyone will have enough room.”

I asked why she’d written it.

Ava whispered that Denise had suggested she might be happier living somewhere else.

I took the note straight to Dad.

He read it twice.

Then he went upstairs, hugged Ava, and told her she wasn’t going anywhere.

That evening, he confronted Denise.

She claimed she’d only been discussing bedroom arrangements.

Dad told her the twins could use the spare room.

His daughter wasn’t losing her bedroom or her place in the family.

The next morning, Mom’s photographs were back on the hallway wall.

And Ava finally unpacked her suitcase.
