My Husband Said I Did Nothing All Day — So I Left Him Alone With Our Three Kids for a Weekend

My husband and I have been married for twelve years.
Before we had children, I worked as a graphic designer. I loved my job, but after our third baby, we agreed I’d stay home.
At first, everything was fine.
Then my husband started making little comments about how lucky I was not to work.
One Friday morning, he couldn’t find a clean shirt and started yelling.
“What do you actually do all day?”
I was tired of explaining.
So that evening, I told him I was spending the weekend at my sister’s. He’d be responsible for the kids, who were six, eight, and ten.
He shrugged.
“How hard can it be?”
Saturday morning, I left.
By noon, he’d called six times.
Where were the soccer uniforms? What time was swimming? Why wasn’t there any milk?
I didn’t answer immediately.
Then his seventh message arrived.
“I found your notebook. I’m sorry.”
I’d been keeping a notebook with school schedules, appointments, grocery lists, bills, and everything else our family needed.
He’d never noticed it before.
When I came home Sunday evening, dinner was ready.
The house was messy, but the kids were happy.
He apologized again.
We finally discussed how to divide responsibilities properly.
I didn’t need him to praise me for everything. I just needed him to stop pretending I did nothing.
