My Fiancé Vanished on Our Wedding Day — Hours Later, His Mother Arrived Crying With His Wedding Ring

I was supposed to marry Derek on Saturday afternoon.

We’d been together for four years, and everything was ready. The flowers, the dress, the guests. All of it.

But that morning, Derek stopped answering his phone.

At first, I assumed he was busy getting ready.

Then his best man called.

He hadn’t heard from Derek either.

By noon, everyone was searching for him.

His car was gone. His apartment was empty. Nobody knew anything.

Eventually, we canceled the ceremony.

I went home, still wearing my wedding dress, and sat on the bathroom floor crying.

Around six, someone knocked.

It was Derek’s mother.

She was crying and holding a small plastic bag.

Inside were his phone, wallet, and wedding ring.

I immediately thought the worst.

Then she explained.

Derek had stopped at a flower shop that morning to pick up a special bouquet for my grandmother.

On his way back, another driver had run a red light and hit his car.

His phone was destroyed, and he’d been taken to the hospital unconscious.

The hospital eventually contacted his mother using his identification and emergency contact information.

I rushed there with her.

Derek was awake but badly injured.

When he saw me, he started crying.

**”I was trying to get you those flowers,”** he whispered.

We got married four months later.

And yes, my grandmother got her bouquet.
