After ten years of fertility treatments, my husband Andrew and I finally welcomed twin girls.
Before my C-section, he promised, “I’ll be there when you wake up.”
But when I opened my eyes, his chair was empty. He wasn’t answering my calls.
The doctor explained that Andrew’s mother had claimed our babies weren’t his.
Hours later, she marched into my hospital room carrying an envelope.
Inside were photos of me hugging our longtime friend Daniel, alongside pictures of the newborns.
“Look at their noses,” she said. “They’re Daniel’s children.”
