My Husband Forced My Mom to Sleep on a Mattress in the Hallway While She Was Undergoing Chemo – So I Had to Teach Him a Lesson

When I left town for work, I trusted my husband to take care of my mother while she was battling cancer. I came home early and found her sleeping on a thin mattress in the hallway, shivering under a single blanket.
My name is Julia. I’m 41, married, and my daughter recently left for college. When my mom was diagnosed with cancer and started chemotherapy, I asked her to stay with us so I could care for her properly. She was weak, exhausted, and needed support every day.
My husband Daniel never liked my mother, but I believed he would at least show basic decency.
I left for one night on a work trip. When I returned early the next morning, I found my mom curled on the floor.
She whispered, “Daniel said the guest room had mold. He said it was just for one night.”
It was a lie. The room was spotless. He had forced a sick woman onto the floor and told her not to tell me.
I pretended nothing was wrong and waited.
That evening, I handed Daniel a box and told him it was a gift. Inside were photos I’d taken of my mother on the hallway mattress.
He didn’t deny it.
“She deserved it,” he said. “She’s a burden.”
That was the moment my marriage ended.
I told him to leave. He packed his keys and stormed out.
My mother moved back into the guest room. I called a divorce lawyer the next morning.
If a man can treat a dying woman like trash, he doesn’t deserve to be anyone’s husband.
