My Husband Tried to Take Everything After I Saved His Life – but My Daughter Told the Judge, ‘Can I Show You Something That Mom Doesn’t Know About’

I donated a kidney to my husband Nick because I believed love meant sacrifice. But just two days after the surgery, while I was still recovering in the hospital, he told me calmly, “You finally fulfilled your purpose. Let’s get divorced. I never loved you.”
We’d been married 15 years. I’d just saved his life.
Then he said he wanted full custody of our daughter, Chloe — claiming I’d be too unstable after surgery. Soon after, I discovered thousands missing from our joint account. He admitted he was “restructuring assets” for his future.
I was served divorce papers that questioned my emotional stability and demanded the house, savings, and custody. Without money for a lawyer, I was left living with my sister, terrified of losing Chloe too.
At our next court hearing, Nick arrived confident with his attorney. But then Chloe stood up and asked to show the judge something.
From her backpack, she pulled out her cracked tablet.
On the video — recorded two weeks before my surgery — Nick was telling another woman that once the transplant was done, he’d be free. He explained how he’d already planned the divorce, moved assets, and intended to leave me with nothing. Then he noticed Chloe recording and told her to keep it a secret.
The courtroom fell silent.
The judge granted me temporary full custody and ordered a review of Nick’s finances.
Outside, Nick admitted he’d only stayed married because he needed a child — and later, my kidney.
Even his lawyer walked away.
For the first time since surgery, I wasn’t alone anymore
