The Walk Down the Aisle That Saved Me

Two days before my wedding, I found out my fiancé had a lover. When I told my dad, he said the wedding couldn’t be called off. I felt trapped.

On the big day, as he walked me down the aisle, something felt wrong. Instead of heading toward the altar, we turned toward a side door. Confused, I asked what was happening.

He winked and said, “You don’t have to do this. I’ve told the guests the wedding is postponed.”

Relief hit me instantly.

Outside, my mom and sister were waiting in a car. Inside was a bag already packed and a plane ticket. My dad smiled and said, “We’re leaving for a few days—just us. No pressure, no questions.”

As we drove away, the venue faded behind us. Instead of marrying someone who betrayed me, I was given something better—a way out, and a family who chose me first.
