My Son’s Pregnant Fiancée Hated Me for Asking for a DNA Test—Then Her Mother Called to Stop the Wedding
When my son Ryan was a college senior, he started dating a girl named Shelley. Just three weeks later, she announced she was pregnant.
The timing felt strange, so I gently suggested that Ryan request a DNA test before making any life-changing decisions. He did—and when the results said he was the father, he decided to do what he thought was right and marry her.
Shelley never forgave me for asking. She told everyone I had tried to “humiliate” her. Soon, relatives avoided me, friends judged me, and I was even excluded from the wedding.
Then, two weeks before the ceremony, Shelley’s mother, Jen, called me in a panic.
“Get in the car and come now,” she said. “We need to cancel this wedding.”
When I arrived, Jen showed me messages she had found on Shelley’s laptop. Shelley had been secretly talking to her ex-boyfriend—the baby’s actual father. She admitted she had chosen Ryan because he was stable, kind, and came from a good family.
