My Husband Had Promised Another Woman My Future

For nearly eight years, my husband, Nathan, and I worked toward one dream: buying a small piece of land and opening a farm-to-table business.

I handled most of our household expenses while Nathan claimed he was saving and meeting potential investors.

One afternoon, he told me he had an important business meeting across town.

Something felt wrong.

When I checked the location we shared for emergencies, his phone showed him sitting in a residential neighborhood.

I drove there.

A woman named Rebecca answered the door.

When I introduced myself as Nathan’s wife, she stared at me like I was insane.

“Wife?” she whispered. “Nathan and I are getting married.”

My stomach dropped.

Rebecca explained that Nathan had told her he was divorced. Worse, he had convinced her to invest money in the same farm project he had been planning with me.

Then she brought out a folder.

Inside were land contracts, bank transfers, and plans for a property I had never seen.

Nathan had been using money from both of us to build one business—while promising each woman she would own half of it with him.

Rebecca and I stopped arguing immediately.

We photographed everything and confronted him together.

Nathan tried blaming “misunderstandings,” but the paperwork told a different story.

I filed for divorce, Rebecca ended the relationship, and attorneys became involved over the money.

I thought another woman had stolen my husband.

Instead, we discovered the same man had been stealing from both of us.
