He Left Everything to My Sister—Then I Found the Hidden Note

My grandpa, whom I was incredibly close to, passed away last week. At the will reading, I was stunned to learn that everything had been left to my sister—someone who had rarely visited him. Certain it had to be a mistake, I asked her to split it with me.
She smiled politely and said, “I can’t go against Grandpa’s wishes.”
That night, I found a folded note tucked into the pocket of my old coat. My hands shook as I read it.
“My dear grandchild, if you found this note, it means you cared enough to keep wearing the coat you once helped me mend. I didn’t include you in my will because I never wanted to measure your love in money. I knew you were there for me—not for what I owned, but for who I was.”
Tears filled my eyes as I continued. “But I haven’t forgotten you. Look beneath the loose floorboard in my study.”
The next morning, I went to his house. Under the floorboard was a wooden box containing a notebook titled Our Stories. Inside were handwritten memories—walks, breakfasts, laughter, quiet moments we shared. Tucked beside it was a letter explaining there was also a savings account in my name, meant to help me build my future.
In that moment, I felt no anger toward my sister. Grandpa had given me something greater than money—his trust, his memories, and his love.
And that was more than enough.
