A few years ago, I married the woman I believed was the love of my life. The only challenge in our relationship was that she had a son, and I had never planned on having children. Still, I loved her enough to believe we could make it work.
After we married, I moved into her house and began covering most of the household expenses. My wife doesn’t work, and her ex doesn’t appear very involved, so I also ended up paying for nearly everything related to my stepson.
The problem is that I’ve wanted to change careers for years. Every time I try to save money for the transition, something comes up — school fees, sports costs, or other expenses — and my savings disappear.
Recently, I overheard my wife asking her ex for money for their son’s football practice — the exact same amount I had already given her for the same reason. Confused, I asked my stepson about it.
That’s when I learned the truth: my wife has been receiving child support from her ex the entire time and never told me.
When I asked why he still asked me for money, he said his dad gives money to buy affection, but his mom treats me like a wallet.
Now I’m left wondering: should I confront my wife about the deception, or stay quiet for the sake of my stepson?
