My Husband Refused a DNA Test for Our Daughter’s School Project — So I Did It Behind His Back, and the Results Made Me Call the Police

It started as a simple school project. My daughter Tiffany needed DNA samples from both parents for a genetics assignment. But when she asked my husband Greg for a swab, he panicked and refused.
“We’re not putting our DNA into some surveillance system,” he snapped.
His reaction felt wrong. We had smart speakers in every room and security cameras outside, yet suddenly he was worried about privacy? Something didn’t add up.
So after he left his coffee mug on the counter one morning, I quietly swabbed it and sent the sample in anyway.
When the results arrived, my world collapsed.
Mother: Match.
Father: 0% DNA shared.
But there was a biological parent match—99.9%.
The name attached to it was Mike… Greg’s best friend. Tiffany’s godfather.
When I confronted Greg, he finally admitted the truth. During our IVF treatments, he learned he couldn’t have children. Instead of telling me, he secretly arranged for Mike’s DNA to be used at the clinic and forged my consent.
He believed he was “saving our marriage.”
But it was fraud, betrayal, and a violation of my trust.
I reported it to the police.
Greg moved out soon after. Tiffany still sees him as her dad—the man who raised her—and that part of our lives doesn’t have to disappear.
But the truth mattered more than protecting a lie.
Because biology might explain how a life begins… but trust decides whether a family survives.
