My MIL Got Caught Snooping in My Closet — I Couldn’t Believe My Fiancé’s Reaction

I (28F) moved in with my fiancé (30M) last year. It’s technically his house, but I contribute — I decorate, cook, clean, and pay part of the mortgage.
One day, I came home early and found my future MIL in our bedroom… going through my closet. She claimed she was “checking if I had enough hangers.”
I was shocked.
When I asked my fiancé, he casually told me she has a key and “helps out sometimes.” I never asked for help — and going through my personal things feels like a huge invasion of privacy.
I told him it crossed a line and asked him to take the key back. He brushed it off and said I was being controlling. His mom hasn’t apologized either — she said I should be “grateful” she cares enough to tidy up.
Now I feel uncomfortable in my own home.
Am I wrong for thinking this is a major boundary violation?
