The Coin That Changed Everything

A homeless woman asked me for change outside my office. It was freezing, and I didn’t have much on me—so I gave her my jacket instead.
She smiled, then handed me a rusty coin.
“Keep this,” she said. “You’ll know when to use it.”
I didn’t think much of it… until my boss saw the whole thing and fired me on the spot.
Just like that, I was out of a job.
Two weeks later, I came home and found a small velvet box sitting on my porch. My hands actually shook when I picked it up.
There was a slot on the side—perfectly shaped for the coin.
I slid it in.
Click.
Inside was a note:
“I’m not homeless. I’m a CEO. I test people. You gave a stranger warmth when you had nothing to gain. Welcome to your new life.”
I read it twice. Then a third time.
Attached was a job offer.
Six figures.
I start on Monday.
Sometimes, the smallest choices… change everything.
