Dog Barks at Coffin during Funeral, Suspicious Son Opens It and Finds It Empty – Story of the Day
Ryan’s dog, Bella, races into the church and barks at his father Arnold’s coffin, prompting Ryan to open it and find it empty. Arnold died of an infectious disease, so the casket was closed, and cremation was planned. Shocked, Ryan rushes his fainting mother to the hospital and contacts the police. Detective Bradshaw reveals the coroner confirmed Arnold’s death, but Ryan, unaware of his father’s shady business, grows suspicious. Arnold’s lawyer, Mr. Stevens, informs Ryan he’s the new CEO of Arnold’s debt-ridden company and suspects Arnold had an affair with his secretary, Miss Pearson. Ryan follows her, discovering a $7 million life insurance policy naming her as the beneficiary. He hands it to the police, who learn Miss Pearson is fleeing to Morocco. At the airport, they miss her.
Suspecting Arnold is alive, Ryan buys a rare figurine Arnold coveted for $750,000, selling company shares. He auctions it, hoping to lure Arnold. At the auction, Arnold appears, bidding $1 million. Ryan confronts him, and Detective Bradshaw arrests Arnold, who confesses to faking his death to start anew with Miss Pearson. Ryan, betrayed, hopes Arnold learns from his selfish choices.
