I Was Pumping When Guests Arrived — Now I’m Being Called Rude

I was home alone with my newborn when the doorbell rang—right in the middle of pumping. I never answer the door in that situation, so I ignored it and kept going.

A few minutes later, I heard voices downstairs. Turns out my husband had come home and was talking to someone. Then he rushed upstairs, grabbed the baby, and said, “Sorry, I didn’t know they were coming!”

Confused, I asked who it was. He said his boss and his wife had stopped by with a gift for the baby.

I said “okay” and continued, still hooked up to the pump. After finishing, I went to the bathroom to get myself together. A few minutes later, my husband came back upset.

He said I was rude for not coming down to greet them and accept the gift. I explained I didn’t realize they were staying or that I was expected to drop everything. He insisted I embarrassed him—especially when they asked where I was.

Now I’m left wondering… was I actually rude, or just a tired mom trying to manage in the moment?
