He Asked for Feedback After Rejection — What Happened Next Surprised Everyone

My friend had been applying to 10–20 jobs every day, but he received very few callbacks. Most companies either ignored him or sent the same standard rejection message.

A few days ago, another email arrived: “We’ve decided to pursue other candidates.”

This time, he noticed it had been sent directly by the recruiter. Instead of reacting angrily, he replied with a polite message asking for feedback. He explained that he genuinely wanted to improve and would appreciate any advice.

To his surprise, the recruiter responded.

She explained which skills the chosen candidates had and shared several free resources that could help him strengthen his resume and portfolio.

My friend took the advice seriously. Over the next few weeks, he improved his skills, rewrote his resume, updated his portfolio, and stopped sending the same application everywhere. Instead, he carefully tailored each one to the position.

Soon, the results changed.

The automatic rejections slowed down, and interview invitations began arriving. One recruiter even praised how professionally he had handled rejection and how willing he was to learn.

Last week, he finally received a job offer from a company that valued his qualifications, persistence, and attitude.

After signing the offer letter, he told me, “Rejection isn’t always the end. Sometimes, it’s guidance in disguise.”

His experience proved that a “no” can sometimes mean “not yet.”
