My Stepmom Took My Late Grandpa’s 1987 Buick Regal and Gave It to Her Daughter – A Week Later, She Showed Up with Authorities, Screaming, ‘Did You Know What That Old Man Hid in the Glove Compartment?’

On my sixteenth birthday, my grandfather gave me his beloved cherry-red Buick Regal. He told me, “Take care of it, and it’ll take care of you.” Three months later, after he passed away, my stepmother Rebecca took the car away and gave it to her daughter, Lisa.

I was devastated. The Buick was the last thing connecting me to my grandfather.

A week later, Rebecca showed up at my door with her daughter and two police officers. Panicked, she demanded to know if I had any idea what my grandfather had hidden in the glove compartment.

At the impound lot, an officer asked me to open it. Inside was a sealed envelope with my name on it. The documents proved my grandfather had legally transferred ownership of the car to me before he died. There was also a voice recorder.

When I pressed play, I heard my grandfather’s voice. He explained that Rebecca had repeatedly tried to convince him to give the car to Lisa, but he had already made his decision. The Buick belonged to me and always would.

The police confirmed the car had been mine all along, and it was immediately returned.

Before leaving, I found one final note from my grandfather:

“You were never hard to love. Some people just made loving you look inconvenient.”

Years later, I still drive that Buick. It was never just a car—it was my grandfather’s final reminder that I was loved, protected, and never forgotten.
