She Called My Son A ‘Lottery Ticket’—Then She Found Out Who Was Really Holding The Numbers

My mother-in-law (MIL) claimed I got pregnant to trap her wealthy, younger son, André. At her 50th birthday party, she called my 7-year-old son, Matéo, my “lottery ticket” in front of guests. André stayed silent. Later, she screamed after finding an envelope with a letter and photo revealing Matéo’s biological father, Nael, from a brief overlap during my transition from an ex. I’d told André early on, and he chose to raise Matéo as his own, refusing a paternity test.

Last year, a DNA test confirmed Nael as the father. After a fight, I informed Nael, who responded kindly, wanting to meet Matéo someday. He also sent a letter for my MIL, which I left for her at the party after her cruel remark. When she saw it, she collapsed, accusing me of deceit. André defended me, saying he chose us out of love, not obligation, and shut down her accusations.

She later reached out, admitting her fear of losing André drove her actions. She’s slowly rebuilding a relationship with Matéo, bringing gifts and spending time with him. Matéo knows he has two dads—one biological, one who raised him—and we’re planning a visit to Nael. Family isn’t just born; it’s built with love.
